Trudy E. Poirier

Trudy Poirier Trudy E. Poirier (1953-) was born in Santa Rosa, California, and was educated at Chico State University (CA). Her involvement in church music began as a child in her father's Assemblies of God congregation. From youth on, she has been leading worship at the piano and writing music. Only in the past decade, however, has she begun to seriously apply herself to developing doctrinally sound, singable music for congregations.

The primary venue for Pear Tree Music is in the worship services at Rocky Mountain Community Church in Billings, Montana. Trudy’s husband, Alfred Poirier, serves as pastor, and she enjoys writing music to complement his preaching. She also has the privilege of leading the worship team Captive Thought. Together, they "sing a new song, play skillfully, and shout for joy" (Psalm 33:3) on the piano, strings, guitars, flute, and percussion.

The name Pear Tree Music comes from her married name, Poirier, which means "pear tree" in French. Trudy teaches piano lessons and enjoys art and literature. She and her husband live in Billings, Montana. They have three daughters and three grandchildren.
